Project Description:
After moving to a new city, I’ve been inspired to create a video game concept exploring the impact of new technologies and AI on human behaviour. The game will depict how humans have adapted to living in a megalopolis. My goal is to convey my journey’s emotions, thoughts, sensations and sounds through the brand and teaser trailer.
Solution
I started by creating a comprehensive concept development package, conducting research, and establishing themes and ideas for the project. I then made a project plan and organized every task on a Miro board to maintain a clear scope and vision throughout.
Leveraging my 5+ years of experience in Branding and Visual Identities, I crafted a genuine brand for the video game. This involved developing the brand guidelines, including the mission statement, brand pyramid, core values, personality, target audience, logo, typography, symbols, and brand mock-ups.
The production of the teaser trailer commenced with creating a storyboard and AI character design, followed by the animatic. Subsequently, I began producing 2D assets and 3D assets, utilizing my newly acquired expertise in motion graphics. As the project progressed, I dedicated time to laying the groundwork for all the scenes before focusing on refining and iterating each one to achieve a rough cut. This is when I delved into the audio design aspect, meticulously perfecting each sound for the scenes and selecting a fitting song that complemented the overall theme, including a last-minute addition of an AI voiceover. I then mixed all the sound and entered the final week of post-production, meticulously refining the last details to submit the final deliverable.
Results
I was able to bring to life a project that was previously just an idea in my mind. The deliverables were successful and I received praise for both the branding and teaser. The audio was also well-received, and I received positive comments and feedback from instructors, mentors, and classmates. The project received a good grade and is being featured as one of my top projects across all of my media platforms.
As a result of my new perspective, I have decided to create a video game trailer that explores the impact of new technologies and AI on human behaviour. The game will also depict how humans have adapted their nature to live in a megalopolis, which is vastly different from how people used to live and perceive the world. My objective is to convey the emotions, thoughts, sensations and sounds that I have experienced during this journey through the trailer.
