Solo Huracán Béisbol Mitt
Project Description:
The initial goal of creating ‘HURACÁN’ was to establish it as the leading Mexican brand for baseball gloves. The name “Huracán” was the main inspiration behind the logo. The mission of “Huracán” is to provide high-quality baseball and softball gloves designed specifically for the needs of players. The brand offers three customizable ranges for children, beginners, semi-professionals, prospects, and professionals.
Solution:
At first, our task was simply to create a logo. However, as we continued discussing the project, we chose to expand it to include developing a visual identity and potentially collaborating on glove designs and a website in the future. I started by researching hurricanes, tornadoes, and similar imagery to use as inspiration for quick sketches of the symbol. We soon realized that the swirl shape was missing something. As a result, we incorporated detail on the “H” from the original design prompt, which helped to allude to the swirl, creating a more distinctive and memorable symbol. After that, we focused on finding and modifying a font to complement the symbol. We chose a colour palette suited for a sports environment and drew inspiration from the concepts related to the word “hurricane,” including hot air, cold air, clouds, and so on.
Results:
The brand’s launch has been notably successful. Over the past three months, the brand has achieved the following metrics:
– A reach of 198,312 users
– An average of 3,179 visits per month to the website
– Inclusion of two players using Huracan in MLB branches, with one in the Yankees and another in the Diamondbacks
– Glove placement in the Japanese Baseball League with the SoftBank Hawks.
– One of the ambassadors is the second-best softball pitcher and we have a presence in international tournaments.
